Treasurer
Steve Caver
BIOGRAPHY
Originally from North
Mississippi, Steve has lived in Arkansas since 1977. Growing up around
an agricultural environment, Steve quickly became fascinated with
plants and the joy of seeing things grow. His second love, music, has also
played a big part in his life. Both of Steve’s grandmothers were avid
gardeners. His paternal grandmother (1/4 Cherokee) planted every
vegetable by the signs of the Almanac, and his maternal grandmother
grew an abundance of flowering plants.
Steve grew up in the small
town of Baldwyn, Mississippi and attended the University of
Mississippi with a double major in music and accounting. In 1977 Steve
moved to Little Rock and quickly settled in to this great southern
city. Steve and his partner George Mobbs founded and own Pyramid Data Midsouth, Inc., a bookkeeping service in North Little Rock
specializing in small to medium-sized businesses particularly non-profit organizations.
Steve’s is a founding member of the Little Rock
Wind Symphony, served as treasurer for 9 years, and is currently an
active board member. Steve plays euphonium with the group. (www.lrwindsymphony.org)
In 1985 Steve and his
partner George purchased land and a cabin on Greer’s Ferry Lake and
became seduced by the beauty of the area. When not working, they are
there every free moment tending their land, growing flowers and
vegetables, raising chickens, goats and donkeys. In 1989 they had the
privilege of meeting Victor Gates and Verne Rogers. The four quickly
became friends, enjoying many of the same interests. It is from this
friendship that the Gates Rogers Foundation was born.
